Why Umahi Prefers Nwifuru As Successor

FROM OUR POLITICAL DESK(ABAKALIKI)

Facts have emerged on why  Governor  Dave Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State is said to prefer  Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru as his successor, even against the greater interest of the people of Ebonyi State, who are said not to favor the candidacy of the Izzi-born lawmaker, presently flying the flag of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the forthcoming 2023 gubernatorial election.

Sources within the camp of the ruling APC, in the State, revealed that his decision to ‘foist’  Hon Nwifuru on the people is to use him to cover up the ‘sins’ he allegedly committed against Ndi-Ebonyi by the governor’s ‘autocratic’ leadership style.

The sources further revealed that Governor Umahi entered into a secret agreement’ with Nwifuru to ‘ cover his ‘tracks’ at the expiration of his immunity, as a governor, to avoid getting the EFCC treatment after his reign.

247thirdeye.com gathered authoritatively that already some sworn enemies of the Dave Umahi administration were said to be compiling allegations that could be used to drag the governor before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC at the expiration of his tenure for allegedly running what they referred to as ‘a-family-cycle administration’ for nearly eight years now.

Our roving crew also gathered that the state’s first- citizen has sworn to do whatever it takes, during the forthcoming election, to have Nwifuru succeed him, with some of the governor’s close allies allegedly boasting that the Governor was battle ready and willing to spend his last kobo to enthrone Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru is the next governor, while Nwifuru is said to have also accepted to ‘keep the faith’ with the agreement with Umahi, as long as he becomes the governor.

Governor Dave Umahi’s choice of Nwifuru was said to have fuelled the present rancor and the disunity in APC, Ebonyi State chapter, as the entire Izzi clan was said to have vowed to cast protest votes against what they saw as ‘imposition of an unpopular candidate on the electorate by the outgoing governor.

Speaking to our reporter on the governor’s preference for Nwifuru, Benjamin Nwojiji, an Izzi man,  wondered why the governor decided to impose  Nwifuru on the people, against the expressed wishes of the people of the state.

He expressed worry that the resources of the state would be deployed in an attempt to enthrone Nwifuru, but advised the electorate to collect whatever money they would be offered but ensure they voted wisely for the candidate that would liberate the people of the State.

Efforts to reach both Governor Dave Umahi and Rt. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, at the time of hitting this report, was not successful because the network was not friendly.

We however promise to publish their side of this story in our subsequent editions for
