Sit-At-Home: Some Banks in Ebonyi Carpets Government Order, Honours Ekpa’s Directive

For fear of the unknown, following yesterday’s alleged storming of some locations in Ebonyi state capital by hoodlums believed to be enforcing Simon Ekpa’s sit-at-home order, so many banks in the state capital have been locked down.

According to our roving crew correspondents, only one bank(name withheld) is operational at Ogoja Road while others locked their teaming customers outside their gate.

According to one of the locked-up bank’s staff who spoke to our crew under the condition of anonymity, he said the bank authorities had directed their private security to lock up their bank, aimed at ascertaining the situation of the state before the commencement of the day’s business.

“You people should wait outside or go and come back because we are studying the security situation as against what we witnessed yesterday. The anonymous bank staff stated.

However, the State government said they observed with dismay, and apprehension in some parts of the state following reported activities of hoodlums and unscrupulous elements.

Engr. Jude Chikadibia Okpor,
Honourable Commissioner for Information and State Orientation in a statement, while assuring that the government is under control of the situation, advised the general public to go about their lawful businesses as security agents are also on top of the situation.
