Senate President: Group Appreciates Northern Leaders over Support for Kalu

*Pleads with APC, President-Elect to Consider Kalu’s Acceptability Nationwide

Ahead of the election of the next Senate President during the inauguration of the 10th Senate on June 13, 2023, group known as Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK) Grassroots Movement for Ahmed Bola Tinubu has commended political leaders mostly in Northern part of Nigeria including Emirs for putting behind tribal and religious sentiments to support the aspiration of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to become the next Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by next month.

The group who made the commendation during a get together for President Elect Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu organized in Abuja by a political group known Asiwaju Amalgamated Support Group (AASG) also pleaded with the leadership of the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the President Elect to consider the former Abia State Governor Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for the Senate President slot owing to Kalu’s acceptability nationwide.

Speaking at the get together, Convener and national leader of the Movement Alhaji Muritala Mohammed alias ten ten noted that the support being accorded to Senator Kalu by the leaders in the North including Emirs is a clear indication that he is the most popular and most acceptable to occupy the nation’s third position in power adding that Kalu as a large scale businessman, ex member of the Federal House of Representatives, two term Governor of Abia State and a sitting Senator has enough experience and capacity for the Senate President job.

Alhaji ten ten went further to describe the former Abia Governor as a detribalized Nigeria and core fighter of the people who has made tangible contribution to the development of the nation’s economy as well as tangible contributions to the development, growth and sustenance of democracy in the country noting that the current Chief Whip of the Senate was instrumental to the truncation of Obasanjo unconstitutional move for third term in office.

He added “let me use this opportunity to assure the leadership of our great party APC under His Excellency Senate Abdulahi Adamu and the President Elect Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu and of course all relevant stakeholders in the six geopolitical zones that our Principal will make a good Senate President most importantly, I am very sure that with the support of the party, the president and the relevant stakeholders like the traditional rulers and religious leaders he will orchestrate much desired stability in the Southeast”

The Convener also used the opportunity to dismiss the impression going around in some quarters that Kalu did not contribute enough votes to the making of the Tinubu Presidency stating that the OUK Grassroots Movement solely funded by the Senate Chief Whip gave Tinubu over 300,000 votes across the nation with its grassroots branches nationwide. He also assured that APC will receive a widening scope across the country with OUK Movement if their principal is elevated to the position of Senate President.
