Python Dance in Southeast is Worthless  … Iyorchia Ayu

FROM OUR POLITICAL DESK(ABAKALIKI)

The Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate rally held at Pa-Negle Oruta Stadium, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State has come and gone, leaving the former Senate President, now the National Chairman of the party, (Senator Iyorchia Ayu’s statement that the ‘Python Dance’ introduced by the nation’s military in the Zone remain worthless and will ever remain evergreen in the hearts of Nigerians.

Emphasizing that instead of the APC central ruling government engaging the people of the zone in a discussion for possible tackling marginalization, which has militated the continued agitation cum calls to disintegrate Nigeria, Ayu recalled that when a similar issue broke up in the Niger Delta region during the period PDP was at the helm of affairs in Nigeria, he said they adopted civil and peaceful approach on the matter and amnesty was granted to the youths in Niger Delta region.

“The PDP rejects in its entity the introduction of Python dance in the Southeast. Instead of the federal government engaging the people. of the zone in a roundtable discussion on how to tackle marginalization that has been the issue, the federal government came up with Python dance, which increased  the insecurity in the zone.” He said.

Speaking at the rally, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar linked the nation’s woes to the ruling party, remaining Nigerians that all the promises of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress has never been met even as he urged the Ebonyi State voters to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all other candidates of APC, on February 25

On restructuring that has been the yearning of the Southeast zone, Atiku Abubakar recalled that APC had promised to restructure the country and even set up a restructuring committee headed by Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, but later stopped the process.

Vowing to keep to his electioneering campaign promises before the momentum crowd, Atiku said one of his cardinal points was the implementation of the restructuring and devolve more powers to the states, adding that “APC has abandoned the issue of restructuring. “They are a very deceitful party. We are committed to it and we mean it. So, give us support. We are going to deliver.

“We are convinced that this state is a PDP state. And as you know, I am committed to power devolution as well as resource control, restructuring and I know all the southeastern states have been yearning for it.” Atiku stated.

The highlight of the event was handing over the PDP flag to the governorship candidate of the party in Ebonyi State, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii (Anyichuks) therefore having buried the issue of who is the authentic gubernatorial flag bearer of the PDP in the Salt State.
