 Police Nab, Recover Dangerous Weapons from 3 Suspects

The Anambra State Police Command last Friday (15/10/2021) said their effort towards implementing a vigorous security action scheme, initiated by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Encheng Eworo has continued to yield optimistic results as the Command’s operatives at about 5 am last Thursday, (14/10/2021) arrested 3 suspected criminals allegedly implicated in heinous crimes and criminality.


Given the names of the suspects to encompass; one Nnaji Ifeanyi ‘M’ 29yrs, Ummuna Osita ‘M’ 32yrs, and Egwuenu Somadina ‘M’ 17yrs,  the police spokesperson in the State, DSP Ikenga Tochi said the suspects are members of a notorious criminal gang (The Lion Squad) who have been terrorizing Ogwuaniocha Community in Ogbaru Local Government Area of the State. 


“The Command recovered one locally fabricated single barrel gun, seven live cartridges, one expended cartridge, charms, red berret, and a large quantity of substance suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.”


The suspects were arrested in a follow-up on cases of violent crimes, involving armed robbery, arson, unlawful possession and proliferation of illegal weapons, etc. The suspects are already helping the police in their investigations and would be charged to court subsequently. 


While assuring that there will be thorough enforcement and implementation of security measures in the State DSP Tochi made it known that the CP reiterates that the Command would continue to do all that is necessary towards evolving new pathways for containing prevailing and emerging security threats in the State.   

 
Efforts made to ascertain the. level of involvement of the suspects, particularly as it has to do with the exhibits allegedly recovered from them was not fruitful as the suspects were before we visit State Police Command were transferred to one of the tactical sections of the force in State for better questioning. 

The Dangerous Weapons Recovered from the Suspects
