Ose-Okwodu Traders Seek Reinstatement of Sacked Market Boss

Traders of Ose-Okwodu Market, Onitsha have pleaded with the Anambra State Government to recall the sacked Chairman of the market Chief Anthony Onwuetiaka who was sacked over what the government described as “flawed election” that enthroned the embattled market leader as Chairman.

Before the sack Chief Onwuetiaka was the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the food-stuff market.

Rising from a stakeholders meeting of traders of the market, one of the market stakeholders,Mr.Gabriel Idika said that the announcement of the sack of the market boss came to traders as a rude shock.

He claimed that the election that enthroned Chief Onwuetiaka was  credible and transparent , devoid of any act of irregularities.

Mr.Idika explained that the market has remained peaceful since the election of the dethroned market boss whom he described as a gentleman and passionate leader.

Chief Ebuka Iwobi a trader in the market told our correspondent that the reason given for the dethronement of Chief Onwuetiaka was not in line with the laid down procedure directing markets on elections.

He noted that the said “flawed election” was witnessed and certified  free, fair and credible by the DSD, Police,ASMATA officials and other government officials from the state Commerce, Trade and Wealth Creation Ministry during the tail end of the former administration in the state.

A market woman in the market,Mrs.Ndidi Ekwueme who expressed sadness over the development pleaded with the State Governor,Prof Chukwuma Soludo to bring back the market Chairman as he has continued to display loyalty and support to the present government before, during and after the Gubernatorial Election.
