The circumstances surrounding the passing unto glory of one of the Eri dynasty traditional rulers, His Majesty, Eze Dr. Nkeli Kelly, the Okalakwu of Igbariam Kingdom has been linked with  the already recalled suspesion of the Monarch by the government of Anambra State.

Speaking under the condition of anonymity, sources within Okalakwu palace revealed that even though the notable traditional ruler was down for prostate cancer he was forced to came back from Abuja where he was responding to treatment and sign an undertaking for the Governor to be of good behaviour before his suspesion would be lifted.

It was gathered authoritatively that while the Monarch refused to yield to the alleged antics of the State government, thugs were allegedly raised from the corridors of power in the State and they (thugs) started hunting for the traditional ruler.

“It was then that our Igwe was left with no other option than to come down from Abuja, despite his complex illness and signed the already prepared document of ‘being of good behaviour’ just like all other traditional rulers who were suspended alongside ours did before their suspesion was lifted by the State Government.

“Igwe Okalakwu’s health condition got worsen when his suspesion by the State Government was made public, while singing the document, he couldn’t manage his health. Few days later, his health condition got deteriorated and all efforts made to revive him at that point hit on the rock.

“When our Monarch was seriously down, he was rushed to Toronto Hospital Onitsha, Anambra State, there was no doctor to attend to him. He was taken to General Hospital Asaba, Delta State, yet no doctor and he was later taken to University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu, UNTH where he was to be addimitted but because there was no vacant bed and while an arrangement for bed was been made, before the arrangement last, our Monarch has joined his ancestors right inside his car”, our impacable source revealed.

Recall that three out of the 12 traditional rulers who bruntly refused to sign the document of being of good behaviour were dethroned by the State Government .
When contacted for reaction, the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Culture,.Mr C-Don Adinuba said it was too early to call his line even as he did not return our call as at the time of filing this report.
