The Regent of Oba Community in Idemmili South Local Government Area has hailed the Police in Anambra State for the roles they have played in combating crime and instilling a functional security system in Anambra State.


Prince Noel Ezenwa who spoke at the weekend when he hosted the Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Zone-13, Ukpor Anambra State, AIG Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, also urged the police to intensify efforts to address the rising insecurity in some parts of the state in recent times.


The meeting which took place at the palace of Late Igwe Peter C. Ezenwa (Eze Okpoko 1 of Oba) had in attendance, all the Ichies and Chiefs of the community, including Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka (OGILISI IGBO), Rev. Chris Emelie (Oba President General) Chief Security Officer of Oba Community, and stakeholders including Darlington Agha [Obuleze Oba] who made a promise to build a befitting police station in the community.


Chief Ezeonwuka, a member of the cabinet in his remarks, thanked the AIG for finding out time out of his busy schedule to visit the community. Ezeonwuka who is also an aide to Governor Willie Obiano on Vigilante, pointed out that Anambra State has maintained the position of the safest state in Nigeria because of effective policing and cooperation with other security agencies in the state. He assured the AIG of all necessary support, in line with the vision of Chief Willie Obiano on security. 


Reacting, AIG Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, gave his assurance that the police in Anambra were determined to rid the state of criminals and bad elements. He also urged members of the public to continue to assist the police.
