Group Forecast Anambra Leading SME

“Anambra state sooner will overtake Lagos state on Small Medium Enterprises (SME) and likely to emerge the small-medium enterprise’s hub of the country if the incoming government that will be headed by the Governor-elect, Prof Charles Soludo will provide an enabling environment as well as adopt policies that will encourage investors to invest on the sector”.
Forecasting this as well as others through a communiqué released to Newsmen after a mega business summit organized by an NGO, ”Ultimate Destiny Uplifters Foundation (UDUF) to sensitize the youths on small medium enterprises, held at presidential lodge of Patterson Auditorium, All Saints Cathedral Onitsha, Anambra State few days ago, resource persons who were drawn from governmental agencies, academic and private sectors, noted that Anambra state has brighter potentials to excel on small medium enterprise businesses more than Lagos state if the incoming government will beam their search light on the sector, adding that the sector has the potentials to create many jobs to tackle unemployment especially among the youths.
Earlier while kickstartng the summit, Dr Chinedu Smart Ezuma the founding president of UDUF, (the Non-governmental organization) that organized the summit had stated that the business summit titled “ Under 45 CEOS Business Summit was packaged to bring together entrepreneurs at all levels including regulators and financial institutions to explore ways and practical models to take in challenges faced by investors on SME all over the Nigeria.
In a keynote lecture, delivered during the occasion, Prof. Olusegun Sogbesan, the director general of Onitsha business school while emphasizing on the need for investors in the sector to be innovative to excel in their ventures, he urged government at all levels in the country to give adequate priority to the sector in order to create abundant jobs for the teeming unemployed in the country, adding that SME hold the key to the economic growth of any nation.
Said the University Don, “the fluctuations that has become the bane of our nation currency currently is as a result of glaring neglect of this critical business sector, I am saying that unless necessary measures are put in place to encourage small and medium enterprises, our economy will continue to nosedive as exchange rate of our currency with dollars will continue to kiss the dust”.
