Group Accuses Police Command of Shielding Thugs Working for APC

FROM OUR POLITICAL DESK(ABAKALIKI)

The opposition coalition of political parties, CUPP Ebonyi state chapter has warned the Ebonyi State Police Command to stop shielding thugs working for the governing party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) because the resultant effect of the whole bugbear will lead to anarchy and unnecessary chaos. This is coming on the heels of yet another fresh attack on supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ugwulangwu, Ohaozara LGA of the State by thugs alleged to be loyal to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Saddened that scores of attacks on members of the opposition and their campaign materials in the state have remained unabated and in the strongest term, the Opposition Coalition CUPP wishes to outrightly condemn this latest attack in Ugwulangwu.

247thirdeye.com investigation on the latest attack on APGA and its supporters in Ugwulangwu revealed that the Governorship Candidate of the party, Prof Bernard Ifeanyichukwu Odo visited the community and in an alleged crude attempt to validate stronghold, the thugs mobilized and attacked a chieftain of the party in the area, Mr. Ikenna Eze. At the moment the victim of the attack is hospitalized

This particular attack like others, it was gathered, negates the ethos of Constitutional democracy and freedom of association as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution. CUPP, therefore, invites the Nigerian police to investigate this condemnable act and bring everyone behind it to face the full wrath of the law.

“The Nigeria Police is warned to stop shielding thugs working for the governing party in the state because the resultant effect of the whole bugbear will lead to anarchy and unnecessary chaos.

“Authoritatively, those who trademark oppressing opponents with intimidation and attacks are reminded that nobody has a monopoly on violence. The stakeholders of Ugwulangwu are called upon to boldly condemn this attack and warn those behind to stop forthwith”. The group said.

Efforts to reach the Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Chris Anyanwu for comment at the time of filling this report were not successful as his GSM Line was not available.
