Governorship Hopeful Launches Fitness Exercise *Preaches, Promote Peace

A leading non-governmental organization in Nigeria, Valentine Chineto Ozigbo Foundation has announced the flag-off of the 2nd edition of its fitness exercise programme tagged “VCO Walk4Peace”.

VCO Walk4Peace is an initiative of VCO Foundation aimed at uniting the people of Anambra and fostering a culture of peaceful co-existence. The event is scheduled to hold on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra State.

Valentine Ozigbo, the foundation’s Founder, while unveiling the programme to journalists in Onitsha on Thursday, November 26, 2020, explained that Walk4Peace is designed to promote peace in Anambra State.

“I have always known that oneness, unity, and love are essential to community building, which is a core mission of my foundation, Valentine Chineto Ozigbo (VCO) Foundation,” the respected business leader said.

“These values are the springboard for our programmes and will continue to guide our actions for years to come.

“One of the major lessons from recent events in our country is the importance of peace to our collective progress and wellbeing. It laid bare the gaps in our leadership and societal integration and the urgent intervention that is required.

“To this end, I am launching the 2nd Phase of our Foundation’s public fitness exercise programme tagged VCO Walk4Peace aimed at uniting Ndi Anambra and entrenching community consciousness in our people.

“Let us foster a culture of peace, unity, and oneness, for where there is no peace, progress becomes an illusion,” Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, concluded.

VCO Walk4Peace is a public health and fitness programme open to all interested Anambra residents. Participants will assemble at Shoprite Mall, Onitsha and will walk through a designated route and return to the take-off point at Shoprite.

Aziza Uko, the Communications Director of the VCO Organisation, explained further, “Riding off the success of the first edition of this exercise, Walk4Health held in Awka, we decided to use the event to lend our voice to the prevalent topic of the day.”

“VCO Walk4Peace will afford Ndi Anambra to refocus on our collective heritage as a peaceful people and further echo the ideology of unity which is synonymous with our founder.

“We will be giving out hundreds of free t-shirts. Our route will take us through Onitsha North LG Secretariat, Ozara Road, DMGS Roundabout, Ekene Bus Station, Oguta Road, Savoy Junction then back to Shoprite Mall through Awka Road.

“The event is open to everyone. Come out, let’s Walk4Peace,” she said enthusiastically.
