Governorship Hopeful Celebrates Anambra Monarch

The man (Valentine Ozigbo), who hopefully is to take over from the current seating governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano on Wednesday, (December 30, 2020) celebrated His Royal Majesty, Igwe Godson Ezechukwu of Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State during the Majesty’s 17th Ofala festival.

Recall that Igwe Godson O. Ezechukwu is the traditional ruler of Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. He has been on the throne since 2003. 

The Nigerian business mogul and a philanthropist joined the event, which marked a new phase in the history of the border town Umuchu as numerous sons and daughters of the town turn up in a show of solidarity with their beloved monarch.

Mr Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, is also an ardent supporter of the traditional institution.  

The respected business leader congratulated the monarch and prayed for continued peace in Umuchu.
According to Ozigbo, Igwe Ezechukwu serves as his de facto Igwe, as his hometown, Amesi,  shares a border with Umuchu, and his Igwe recently passed on, and is yet to be replaced. 

He thanked the monarch for “solidly supporting his governorship bid since inception”, praying for long life to see him become governor it Anambra State. 

Ozigbo was accompanied to the event by several notable personalities including his wife, Mrs. Ojiugo Ozigbo; former Anambra State PDP Chairman, Ejike Oguebego; a prominent PDP stalwart, Chief Tony Offiah; Ichie Sunday Ezeobiora; Barrister Nkem Ekwozo, among others.
