Ex-Army Chief Lampoons Politicians for Nation’s Insecurity

A retired Army Chief, Air Commodore Reuben Ejike Akansi has carpeted the political class for insecurity in Nigeria, saying that the regrettable insecurity situation will persists until politicians are ready to nip it in the bud.
Air Commodore Reuben Akansi who made this observation at his country home,Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State during interaction with his Age Grade, Ifunanya Age Grade,Oraofia branch, however, noted that politicians are completely complicit in fueling the growth and advancement of terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping in Nigeria.
According to him, “Everything happening in the South-East and Nigeria, in general, is not insecurity but politics, and that is why many people believe that politics is a dirty game.
“We are where we are today in Nigeria because insecurity is being politicized and any day politicians want it to end, it will end”.
Rtd Commodore Akansi stated categorically that as a professional, he knows what is happening and what should be done to put an end to the ugly scenario if given the chance.
He commended the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano for not joining the fray and called on the Governors of South-East States to be patriotic and people-oriented in their approach to governance to save the geo-political zone from avoidable crisis and retrogressive mentality.
On his part, Chief Jude Amuzie who played host to Ifunanya Age Grade, Abagana revealed that his reason for hosting his age mates was to foster social cooperation and interaction, adding that he wants to contribute his quota in community development through the age-grade system.
“Ifunanya Age Grade has done a lot for this town including building a Civic Centre and given Scholarships to indigent indigenes of the town.”I thank God for my life and what I did today is a sort of reunion and to encourage the age-grade to continue their vital role in Nation-building”.
Then the Chairman of the age-grade, Comrade Igwemba Lazarus (Okwuoto Abagana) while commending Chief Amuzie for hosting the group and facilitating the employment of many Abagana indigenous, also called on others to emulate his footprints.
