 EndSARS: Perpetrators Who Burnt Nkwelle Ezunaka Police Station not Anambrarians. -PG

FROM CHINAZA NWACHUKWU, ONITSHA

Facts emerged yesterday that those who burnt Nkwelle-Ezunaka police station, Oyi Local Government Area, Anambra state, during the EndSARS protest were not indigenes of the state.

The President General of Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Hon. Leonard Areh Onyenze made this disclosure to newsmen yesterday while counting the losses incured during the EndSARS protest.

“It is really unfortunate in the sense that most of these  miscreants who set the police station ablaze are not Anambrarians, they are not from Nkwelle Ezunaka, not from Oyi neither from the environs but strangers from other neighbouring states who came into Anambra,damaging infrastructures.”

“We took the pain and the station is going under reconstruction now. Looking at the standard of the station before now, which we are struggling to elevate because it is suppose to be a standard station with facilities and modern gadgets, the DPO, (Powell Sali), does not have an office now. Families that are around Nkwelle Ezunaka, Nsugbe, they made donations to see that the station is rebuilt as quick as possible because security gives freedom.

if you are not having security you won’t be at rest of mind so is unfortunate what has happened has happened, pray God to take control and next time if we have another rumour that they are preparing to attack the station again, we shall show them that no human being has monopoly of violence”

“If the authority does not secure you, you secure yourselves. we are the Governmnent and the Governmnent is us, the Governmnent belongs to the people and for the people”,

“Obiano is not taking it low on security so we know that Anambra state government is on course and those who try Anambra won’t go Scott-free”.

On plans to have a traditional ruler after about 20 years of the exit of the last monarch he stated that, “the resolution already taken at our December meeting, is like  Nkwelle Ezunaka will have a king on throne, we are seriously coming to it. At least for us to get our
traditional ruler, our last traditional ruler died over 20 years ago and we need replacement. He was a man of policy, infact if you are comparing his class is difficult to over come so we are looking at a personality of that
class that is the issue”.

“The last Igwe of Nkwelle was a man of disrepute, an honourable when you talk of christianity, quality, tradition he has it, so to replace such a figure it goes a long way to access, so no problem for now we are accessing a personality of such disrepute, such
quality. Age is not a barrier, what we need is a quality or good man wether he is two years or 50, 90 even 100 plus, the quality in him is
the question”.

“If God helps me to achieve it, I will be very grateful, I am looking at that and I hope and believe it.One who will always adhere to peace, I as a peace advocate, I always talk of peace, my people can continue and continue with what I am seeing now at every home, that peace and legacy shall live long.”

 “We received this year from branch of our union in United States a four flat staff quarter and health centre in Nkwelle Ezunaka by Canada and American guys of the union which were built by them and handed over with canteen. we are looking forward now how to reach with them on handing over to Governmnent and the health department of Oyi
L.G.A. so we are looking forward towards that again”

On how to get rid of cultism in the community he stated that, “cultism makes no difference because the land forbids cultism, Nkwelle Ezunaka land forbids cultism and if you get to that the land will show you what it did to the past, so Nkwelle is not meant to indulge in cultism”.
