Curbing Bridgehead Criminal Activities: Road Users Advocate for Omambala Line Unified Park Usage

FROM OUR ROVING CREW DESK, (ONITSHA)

To curb the constant cases of one-chance operations and other criminal activities within Onitsha Bridgehead end towards Uga junction, commuters have urged the State Government to direct all transport activities within the mentioned areas to make use of Omambala Line Unified Park as an alternative.

The park which is situated close to the Federal Road Safety Commission, Onitsha as well as the Ogbo Abada market is said to have been abandoned by motorists who prefers using unauthorized parks, therefore making the State Government lose her due to Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.

Speaking with our roving news crew in Onitsha, Anambra State on Monday, some commuters suggested that the use of the said motor part will not only checkmate the criminal activities but would go a long way in decongesting traffic menace in the said area.

Alleging that the criminal one chance syndicate capitalizes on the operations of illegal motor parks scattered from the Onitsha Bridgehead end towards Uga junction to gain an advantage over their daily suspected victims, a commuter under the condition of anonymity said the use of the aforementioned motor park would assist the security agencies to monitor the criminals that strike on daily bases.

“It is clear that the government of Anambra State is doing well in the area of security of lives and property, I think the best way to curb one chance syndicate operations within Onitsha Bridgehead towards the notorious Upper Iweka, those stealing government revenue, and, to close the usage of hard drugs within the said axis was for the government to clamp down on the illegal motor parks within the mentioned area and direct drivers to relocate to Omambala Line Unified Park immediately.

“The position of the Omambala Line Unified Park favors members of the public, including those who visit the state for business transactions from outside Anambra State. I therefore urge the present administration of His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo to direct the Onitsha Police Area Commander, Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, (OCHA) Bridged, Special Anti-Touting Squad, (SASA), the Civil Defence Corps and other relevant authorities to enforce the use of Omambala Line Unified Park for it is going to serve as a security checks.” The anonymous commuter suggested.

Drivers plying the Onitsha-Agbo, Onitsha-Ondo, and Onitsha-Asaba routes amongst others who volunteered their views on the suggestion of other road uses said they are using this medium to appeal to the state government to approve the general use of Omambala Line Unified Park, stating that such approval would go a long way to reduce the double-taxation they undergo on daily bases.
