In less than 72 hours the new Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Eworo Echeng assumed duty as the 32nd Commissioner of Police, nemesis today caught up with one of the lawbreakers who came out in the open and allegedly attacked the Command’s convoy on their routine checks in the state capital.

The suspect, whose identity was not disclosed as at the time of hitting the online, according to the State Police Command spokesman, DSP Ikenga Tochi had within the popular Eke Awka market, not minding the police convoy with the possible aim of dislodging the policemen of their working materials but was overpowered as he is presently assisting the State Police Command in their investigation.

It was gathered authoritatively that the police patrol is part of the strategy the new police commissioner has designed aimed at reclaiming the public space and boost the confidence before now bestowed on the force by Ndi-Anambra and residents alike.

An eyewitness account confided on 247thirdeye.com that the suspect who is currently cooling off in the police cubicle was seen at Eke Awka with a dagger on each of his hands and attempts to disarmed the suspect of the daggers was resisted by the hoodlums;

“I witnessed the incident, which happened at Eke Awka today when a police convoy was patrolling and while reaching Eke Awka, a young man was seen moving at the center of the road with a dagger on each of his hands and when one of the policemen approached him to ascertain his mission, the young man attempted stabbing the policeman but others policemen assisted and overpowered the young man and he was arrested and whisked away”; an eyewitness stated under the condition of anonymous.
