Checkpoint: UGM Subdues Police, Burn 2 Alive

It was a bad day for the men of the Nigeria Police, Anambra State Police Command a few days ago when the Unknown Gunmen who operated on four Hilux vans, struck and attacked the police officers at their Idemili-Obosi-Owerri road flyover, checkpoint, Idemili North local government area of the state and burnt 2 police officers alive.
According to an eyewitness, the policemen were drafted from the Special Force unit of the Nigeria Police and deployed to the area, following constant security breaches but instead of the men of the force to do the needful in nipping the criminal activities going on in the area, the policemen, it was alleged, saw their posting as an avenue for extorting computers of their hard-earned money under impurity.
It was generated authoritatively that the policemen designed a method of burning the proceeds of their extortion in a nearby bush in the daytime, only to exhume same at their closure of the day’s duty, the action, it was learnt was to avoid being arrested by the Force monitoring team.
Luck, it was gathered ran against the accused extortionists when the gunmen struck and overpowered the policemen as the trigger, happy children of the darkness, sent their victims to their untimely death.
“After shooting them, the gunmen took the already killed 2 policemen inside police patrol van and set both the policemen and van ablaze before the agents of the devil drove through Oba-Owerri road, Anambra State.
Reacting when contacted, the Anambra State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochi said what happened on 17/12/2021 at about5:20 pm along Obosi idemili flyover is an example of the price they pay as Police Officers in service to the nation and humanity. “Anambra State Police Command is firm and the personnel is more motivated in providing security services until the current security concern is reduced to the barest minimum and overcome”, PPRO started.
Recall on 5th, December 2021 along the same Obosi, idemili flyover, Police Operatives intercepted a three-man armed robbery gang, neutralized 2 of the armed gang and arrested one. The Police recovered two locally made Pistols, five cartridges and the tricycle that brought the gangsters to the scene of the crime.
“On the incident that happen on 17th December 2021, three of the armed men were demobilized while two police personnel pay the supreme prize. Police also recovered the rifle of the slain officer and a Lexus jeep, one of the operational vehicles of the armed hoodlum. The operation is still ongoing. Further details shall be communicated”; he concluded.
