 As Gov. Umahi Loses Stepmother

Having been forced by the cool hands of death to join half motherless society through bidding farewell to  Late Mrs. Theresa Ivo Umahi, the stepmother of His Excellency, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, a thanksgiving Church Service was last Sunday held to appreciate God for the successful burial.

The Thanksgiving Church Service which was officiated by the Christ Ascension Church was held at the Compound of the Governor at Umunaga Uburu.

Addressing the congregation, Governor Umahi thanked them for the solidarity accorded the Umahi family throughout the funeral.

He assured that the family will continue to abide in peace for which it was known.

Governor Umahi commended the Christ Ascension Church, the home Church of their late mother for the partnership with the Umahi family.

“As much as the memory of our mother remains in our hearts, so shall Christ Ascension Church remain in our hearts.

“It is just to thank God when the Lord has given us the grace to do this, we came safely and we went back safely so we have to tell God to thank you.

“These days in Nigeria, it is no longer a matter of I have security but I have God so we have to appreciate God because what happened in Ebonyi State is a miracle, no man would have done it without God.

“The unity in our family, the minor misunderstandings is what every family should learn and aspire to be, the peace we enjoy our father and mother laid the irreversible foundation.”

Governor Umahi announced that the Government would commission four Church buildings at Church Avenue Umunaga Uburu by the 25th of November 2022.

In a sermon, the General Overseer of Christ Ascension Church and former Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Nwoye enjoined Christians to hold on to God at all times for spiritual guidance in their affairs.

On behalf of the family, General Obi Umahi (rtd) thanked friends and well-wishers for identifying with them and prayed to God to lead them safely back to their destinations.
