Army Hauls Woman Child Trafficker, Deny Journalists Access to Coverage

FROM OUR CRIME DESK (ONITSHA)

The Military Police section of the Onitsha Military Cantonment, Nigeria Army had been fingered of having hauled, instead of handing over a suspected human trafficker arrested by the members of the public in an open market with two minors suspected to were abducted and sold to her by her syndicate to the authorities with the constitutional mandate of handling case(s) of human trafficking.

Information available to this website hinted that little master Obumuneme Aleke, a native of Amalekwuna Ameka, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State was abducted in his father’s residence around Rainbownet axis, Awada Obosi, Idemili North Council Area on the 28th day of December 2023 by yet to be arrested man and efforts made by his parents, (Mr. Oluchi and Nneamaka Aleke) to trace the whereabouts of the little boy were fruitless.

Luck, however, ran against both the abductor(s) and as well, the suspected human merchandize when a little child (names withheld) from the same compound with the abducted little boy went with his mother to buy food condiments at the food perishable market close to the military barracks, Onitsha where he saw, identified the abducted Obumuneme and called the attention of his mother who was with him in the market.

It was gathered authoritatively that the mother of a child who identified  Obumuneme engaged the suspected human merchandise woman in an open fight with the strong claim that Obumuneme was the child stolen from their yard on the 28th day of December last year and their fight gave rise to other people in the market paying holistic attention to the claims of both the boy who identified Obumuneme and his mother.

The fight between the two women, the 247thirdeye roving crew learned, attracted the attention of both the Military and other passersby hence the Military men from the Onitsha Military Cantonment rushed, apprehended the women, and whisked them into the Military barracks for possible interrogations, leaving the woman whom his child identified the abducted child to put a call across to the biological father of Obumeneme and within a space of time, the father of the child stormed the barracks, saw and equally identified his abducted son but was not allowed to take his already recovered boy home.

However, the Intelligence Unit of the Onitsha Military Cantonment denied Journalists access getting the full gist of the ungodly act for public consumption as the phone number of the Commander of the Barracks was not known to the media practitioners but the media unseen ears within the Army Military Police section heard that the suspect made a confessional statement that she bought Obumeneme at the rate of N2.5M from his abductor even as the suspect was quoted to have allegedly admitted of having other 11 minors in his house during interrogation and this is apart from another female minor she was carrying alongside with Obumeneme. It is believed that the female minor was also suspected to have been stolen from somewhere else.
 .
The Military Cantonment hierarchy, having concluded their preliminary investigation, it was learned, preferred handing over the suspect to the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Comrade Ify Obianabo for other necessary action while the Military moves to reunite the recovered boy with his biological parents on the parents’ production of the child’s birth certificate and photograph.
