The Electrical Int. Market Obosi, Anambra State recently conducted an election into various positions and the said election was adjudged most peaceful, transparent, free, and fair since the inception of the market.

The election which witnessed heavy security men presence as organized and also monitored by officials from the state Ministry of Commerce led by the Senior Special Assistance(SSA) to Governor Obiano on Commerce, Hon Sunday Nwasa, was all also officiated by the officials from the Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders  Association, ASMATAS while the Board of Trustee, BoT of the market witnessed the said election.

In his pre-election speech, the electoral committee chairman, Mr. Ndubuisi Emenike had assured the traders that the election was not only going to be free, fair but credible. He advised the contestant not to see the election as a do-or-die affair. He also announced that option A4 was to be adopted.

After the election, Chief Chike Johnbosco Onukwo (CYKO) came out victorious as the Chairman of the market with 434 votes to top his rival, Hon. Chukwuma Agwasinwa who scored 27 votes.

Others elected to administer the affairs of the traders in the next four years include; Vincent Okwudili Mgbike as the Vice Chairman, Chinedu Ezeibe Secretary, Chibuzor Anyabolu Assistant Secretary. Linus Ohiri Chimaobi and Okechukwu Opel won the Financial. Secretary, Treasurer respectively while Godwin Chinaeche Ajudolu occupied the office of Public Relations Officer, amongst others.

In his acceptance speech, the unanimously elected Chairman, Chief Johnbosco Onukwo commended the electoral committee for the peaceful, transparent, free and fair election and assured the traders that he wouldn’t disappoint them. He called those that lost in the election to join hands with the new executives in taking the market to a greater height.

Chief Onukwo assured that there will be uninterrupted power supply in the market, noting that road network in the market and security among others remains the priority of his administration.

In his speech, the representative of the Hon. Commissioner for Trade, Commence and Wealth Creation, Hon. Sunday Nwasa commended those elected and those who lost in the election for the maturity exhibited during and after the election and charged the new executives to carry everybody along for the progress of the traders.
