Anambra CP Cautions Personnel against Unapproved Uniform
“Assures Improved Police Security Service Delivery”
FROM OUR CRIME WATCH DESK (AWKA)
Following the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali’s order on immediate ban on unapproved uniform and outfit of personnel when performing their constitutional duties, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng has directd all the Command disciplinary units particularly the Command Provost, X-Squad, Monitoring and Public Complain Unit to ensure strict compliance on police officers detailed for patrol, stop and search, check points, and other routine operational duties to make sure that all such officers must be in approved uniforms when performing their duties in the State.
Stating that the above directive shall enhance easy identification of Nigeria Police Force Personnel in the State, the State number one policeman tasked his men to always work with human face while discharging their constitutional and professional duties.
“This directive is in line with the Force leadership commitment in promoting strategic police reforms geared towards sanitizing operational engagements, and bequeathing to the nation a professional policing system as required by the Police Act”
However the CP, through the Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, DSP Ikenga Tochi noted that uniforms, which is part of means of identification, has been long abused by officers who engage in improper dressing even as the CP assures improved security service delivery across the state.
He also warned heads of Tactical Units including Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) who would be held vicariously liable to make sure that appropriate disciplinary actions be taken against any personnel appearance who may be inconsistent with this order and directives.
