Anambra Again: 2 Naval Men Fell to Unknown Gunmen’s ‘Superior Rifles’

By OUR DETECTIVES (AWKA)
About two months after Navy officers reportedly shot a middle-aged man to death and on return to their base at Awkuzu junction, in Oyi Council Area of Anambra State, unknown gunmen, in the late hours of yesterday (9th August 2021), attacked the officers, resulting in the death of two officers, according to our reliable sources.

Although effort made by 247thirdeye to reach the Commander, Nigeria Navy, Onitsha Outpost, Navy Captain Adekunke Okeniyi as at the time of filing this report was not successful as our correspondent was not allowed into the Outpost office of the Navy while calls made across to the Commander could not go due to the unavailability of the network.

However, it was gathered that the attackers dropped a vehicle at a Filling station close to the Naval checkpoint at the junction, snatched another Toyota Hilux vehicle, took the corpses of the two slain military men, and made away with the corpses to an unknown destination.

Recall that the Navy base at Awkuzu junction is just a stone’s throw from the former SARS office in the community, now Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Annexed.

247thirdeye’s visit to the already tensed Awkuzu junction this morning, witnessed uneasy calm in and around Awkuzu motor park, as other Navy officers are forcing passersby to “hands up” while crossing their base, while other human and vehicular movements are being diverted.

Our correspondent on routine checks at the troubled area this morning saw some commercial drivers, artisans, and petty traders, who gathered in groups discussing the incident in low tones; wondered that yesterday’s sit-at-home ordered by IPOB, which was largely observed civilians could result to military men casualties.
