 Appoint Okpompi to Head AVG; Concerned Citizens Urge Soludo


Following growing concerns over the worsening security situation in Anambra, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has been advised to draft a well-known security expert, Chief Chinenye Ihenkor, (a.k.a Okpompi) as head of the state vigilante group given his manifest ‘capacity and ability to provide answers to the security problems besetting the State.


The call came from a group of Anambra Concerned Citizens, ACC  after their meeting in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area at the weekend.     

                 
The group traced the excellent security track record of Chief Ihenkor in the State for some years adjudged the operations of Okpompi since they exist of the disbanded BAKASSI Boys, having noted the major role played by the Abia State-born security guru, in assisting the police and other law- enforcement agencies in the reduction of cases of kidnappings, bank robberies, market fire disasters, in the State, among others to the barest minimum.


The Anambra Concerned Citizens, ACC, who spoke through their leader, Chief Ndubueze Christopher, said that the need for Okpompi to head the Anambra State Vigilante Group, AVG, was paramount to check the resurgence of criminal activities in the State, including the menace of touts earlier sacked by Governor Soludo, who has returned on the streets, thereby further compounding the woes of citizens, especially at this period of increased hardship in the country.          

ACC said they believed that it was only Okpompi that had the capacity and courage to arrest the situation and restore the crime-free status of the state. 


“We are calling on our amiable Governor, Charlie Nwmgbafor to listen to our appeal cum advise as the traders across the state and other citizens alike can attest to the fact that Chief Chineye Ihenkor has made many selfless sacrifices as far as the security of lives and property is concerned in Anambra State and we see in him as one who can lead the state-local security outfit.


“Although Okpompi is not an indigene of the state, he is better positioned to head AVG as security is an exceptional service that requires the best no matter the creed and religion. We wish to assure Your Excellency that the name ‘Okpompi’ is the only name the criminal elements fear both within and outside Anambra State”. Anambra Concerned Citizens added.


The group lauded Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for working assiduously to restore the lost glory of the state through the present efforts to stimulate all sectors in the state, including the markets, the security apparatus, the environment, and above all, being resolute in addressing issues affecting the entire state, adding that bringing Okpompi to head the state local vigilante group will be an enabler to the governor’s efforts to develop the State holistically.
