War against Touting:TOAN Vows to Partner Anambra State Government

FROM OUR NEWSROOM (AWKA)

Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria, TOAN Anambra State chapter has lauded the move by the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo to reclaim the state from the hands of the touts that never wished the state well, noting that TOAN, as a registered trade union will collaborate with the new administration of Charli Nwagbafor in pursuing the touts out the roads.

Addressing members of Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria, TOAN in Onitsha at the weekend on the need for TOAN to support the new government programs and policies, the State Chairman of the group, Comrade Sylvester Obiorah said the best thing that can happen to the state is a move to remove the criminal elements who hide under registered trade unions to be tormenting law-abiding citizens.

Describing Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s victory at the November 6, 2021 governorship election as Ndi-Anambra prayers answered by God, Comrade Obiorah said the touts who never considered generating revenue for the progress of the state need not at this pointing time be given a breathing space to operate in at anywhere in the state.

“It is our sole responsibility to collaborate with the law enforcement agencies to rid our routes out of the touts. I believe we know all these touts more than anyone else. We stay with them every hour and what I expect from all our members is to spot the touts out while the security personnel will do the rest.

“It is no longer time we say it doesn’t concern me, it concerns everybody because touting in our state seems as if it is legal. Until we say no just like our Governor has done, there is no other time, we can’t get it better. I am calling on all TOAN members across the State to work tirelessly towards identifying the hoodlums who, before now have brought reproach not only to our union but to Anambra State by extension.

Sharing his team odd experiences on the activities of the touts while working on the field as the State Chief Taskforce of TOAN, Comrade Chukwuma Usulor counted some members of TOAN that received Matchets, Axe’ cuts, including gunshots from the hoodlums in the name of touting even as Usulor applauded Prof. Soludo on his quick intervention.
