The traders who basically deals on heavy wight generating sets were spotted being busy with shovel, wreck and other working tools in all the water drainages in the market, aimed at making sure that their shops are protected from any possible flood.

Addressing newsmen after the exercise, the Chairman of the market, Chief Joseph Obiora said the clean up exercise is an annual event which the target was to prevent possible flood in the market.

Chief Obiora regretted that after collecting sanitation levies from the traders by the Anambra State Sanitation authority, the wares of the traders are left to be consumed by flood diaster, which according to him have been the most problem facing the trades in the recent past and the traders, it was learnt has no option than to do it by themselves…

Chief Joseph Obiora used the occasion and appealed to the state government to assist them either through giving them loan to finish their permanent site at Ogbunike or possibly finish the construction of the shops, after which they would be giving terms and conditions on how to repay back.
